I have strong beliefs in education. I believe everyone (every student) should be educated with those things that will assist them with becoming moral, productive citizens in society. Education is on-going and has no boundaries. John Dewey, born in the 1900’s believed “Nature and Knowledge are always changing- so our ideas should change also. We cannot teach students today the same way we did twenty years ago. Education is changing. Society is changing.
My role as a teacher is to find ways, methods, tools, etc, to reach student’s minds. Students are becoming more and more complex in their personalities (being bombarded with issues of love, belonging, physiological needs not met, etc. I, as a teacher, should help students to feel important and worthy of praise. I posses a bag of tricks (mentally) and everyday I am forced to pull another trick out of the bag just to reach a student. I want my students to perform in the classroom as best they can. I want them to get over fear of failing, fear of not being good enough, etc.

Great philosophy! "I love challenging students to aim high and work hard to achieve their dreams." Your students are fortunate to have you as a teacher and role model!

I liked your last line. I tell my kids I can work with "I don't know," I can't work with "I don't care."
I strongly agree with your statements in this Blog. Education is on-going and has no boundaries. It sounds like you are a very motivated teacher and I admire your philosophy of education. It's true that "We cannot teach students today the same way we did twenty years ago" b/c students are different, especially in terms of technology. Many students today are tech-savvy and eager to learn through technology. It's our job to meet those needs.
I enjoyed the quote from Dewey. How absolutely true. We need to be able to change our ideas about technology or we, as a culture, and our children, as the future, will be left to struggle.
